East Central High School Soccer Varsity Boys beats Connersville High School 2-1
Soccer Varsity Boys
The East Central Boys’ Soccer team played host to new Conference opponent Connersville last night at Trojan Field. The Trojans controlled the tempo of the game right from the get go and looked to not let off the gas pedal. The Trojans pressed and pressed towards goal but a quick counter and a let down by the defense allowed the first goal by the Spartans coming at the 33:10 mark. The Trojans got it together and Forward Sam Burns scored 2 goals in the first half to put the Trojans up 2-1. The second half was much of the same with the Trojans controlling 70% of the possession. The score of the game did not reflect the effort by the Trojans as was evident by the 25-9 shots on goal differential, with many of those Trojan shots hitting the crossbar and goal posts. The Trojans were awarded 7 second half corner kicks but still could not find the back of the net. The Trojans look to continue their possession style of play but hopefully more finishing is to come in future contests.
The JV contest was the Trojans 6-1 victory.
