|The Trojans never trailed the entire night, defeating the Rushville Lady Lions 3-0; 25-21, 25-15, 25-17.
EC advances record to 5-1 ( 3-0 EIAC ) heading into Batesville Thursday for another EIAC match-up.
EC blasted out to a 11-3 lead in game one on several Nicole Sandmann kills. Kristen Weber and Maria Shoemaker followed with several smashes to hold the lead at 15-8. The Trojans kept the pressure on the Lions as Josie Andres hammered several kills to round out the balanced EC attack, a Emily Egbers ace extended the score to 21-14, leading to a Rushville timeout. A late run by the Lions came up short as EC closed out game one 25-21.
The Trojans smashed out to a 5-1 lead in game two and maintained the lead the rest of the way. The Lions got to within two several times at 10-8 and 12-10, an Olivia Fette ace extended the score to 18-14, then EC went on a 7-1 run to win game two 25-15.
In similar fashion EC shot out in front 4-1 in game three on a Sandmann block and Egbers ace. The Lions closed to within one at 6-5, then back to back Andres hammers combined with a Chloe Wilhelm ace pushed the lead to 10-5, causing another Lion timeout. A kill by Sarah Schuman set the tone out of the timeout, EC extended the lead to 17-7 on a Kaylyn Gindling ace, the Trojans cruised to a 25-17 game three victory.
