An Emily Egbers ace got the Trojans to within four at 21-17, but Batesville closed out game two on a Goldsmith kill and block, winning 25-19.

EC responded with hammers from Andres and Sarah Schuman to pull within one again at 13-12. Baumer spiked Batesville to a 3-0 run causing an EC timeout at 16-12. Weber and Goldsmith traded kills for each team as the Bulldogs maintained the four point margin at 20-16. Another EC timeout allowed the Trojans to get within one at 23-22, but the rally fell short. Bulldogs winning game three 25-22.

With their backs against the wall in game four the Trojans smashed out to an early 3-0 lead, only to see it quickly erased by a 3-0 Batesville run. Teams slugged it out to a 9-9 tie, then EC behind Schuman and Weber kills went in front at 12-9, leading to a Bulldog timeout. EC rallied to their largest lead at 15-10 on a Kaylyn Gindling ace. The Bulldogs started the fight back behind Goldsmith and Madi Oesterling kills going back in front at 19-18. The Trojans quickly answered with a Schuman kill and combo block of a Baummer smash attempt, regaining the lead again at 20-19. An Egbers ace and another Schuman kill propelled EC to a 22-19 lead. Batesville closed to within one at 23-22, then a service error set the sore at 24-22, and ended on a hammer by Sandmann. EC winning a must have game four 25-22.

The momentum carried over to game five as EC shot out to a early 5-0 lead. The Trojans maintained the five point spread at 8-3 on a Shoemaker kill, until Batesville battled back on a 6-3 run to get within two at 11-9, then back to back Batesville kills tied the score at 11-11. From that point on teams traded kills, Sandmann and Andres for EC, Baummer and Goldsmith for Batesville, all the way to a 14-14 tie. A Baummer kill put the bulldogs up one and ended on a smash that appeared to sail out long, the officials calling the ball tipped at the net. The Bulldogs win the deciding game in extras 17-15.
