Game Recap
The East Central Trojan’s Men’s Soccer team opened up Sectional play last night at Madison. They were playing home team Madison Cubs after a postponement of play on Monday. As expected the Cubs came out with intensity in the first part of the game as they were playing on their home field. The Trojans quickly settled the ball though and started to get into the rhythm of the game. After multiple scoring chances came up short Sam Burns finally got one into goal. At the 22:34 mark he intercepted a pass from the Madison goal keeper and passed it into the back of the net. The second goal of the half came at the 21:03 mark as Sam Burns passed the ball to Mason Volker who struck the back netting. The third goal of the half at 7:46, was scored as Tryston Zeiser crossed a ball and on the attempt to head it out the Madison player headed it into goal. The Trojans started the second half the same as the first with all starters in. They got on the board as Keith Rosemeyer passed to Sam Burns who struck a ball into the netting at the 30:35 mark. Quickly the starters came out along with the starting goalkeeper. The cubs capitalized on the subs being in as late in the second half at the 9:45 mark they found a goal as they scored of a rebound off the first save of the Trojan keeper. The Trojan backups then caught a little fire and quickly answered as Caleb Mitchell got a pass from Jacob Berting and scored a breakaway goal at the 7:50 mark. Then Vince Parisey was a recipient of an Adam Huntington pass and Vince hit the side netting at the 7:09 mark. This would end the scoring for both teams as the end result was 6-1 Trojans. The Trojans had a shot on goal favor of 28-6 and Keeper for the Trojans totaled 4 saves as the Madison keeper totaled 9 saves. “We were happy to win the opener but we still have work to do as the State Tournament is a long and grueling one because everyone you play is playing for their soccer lives. We turn around and have to come back tomorrow night to play Jennings County at 7, so hopefully we can build on top of this confidence.”
