Game Recap
The Trojan Men’s Soccer team took on the Jennings County Panthers last night in a quick turnaround from yesterday’s game. The Panthers came out very fast and determined to catch the Trojans sleeping due to the long drive and game the day before and having to make a return trip that next night. The Trojans came out flat and the Panthers capitalized as they headed away a ball off of a free kick to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Panthers (19:26 mark). The Trojans were still looking for a bit of energy and it came in the form of a hard foul that proved to spark a little of desire into the Trojans. The Panther player had sparked the Trojans and they found the equalizer at the 6:18 mark as Joe Brush scored off of a corner kick by Grant Williams. After a half time talk from the Head coach the Trojans were ready to roll. Only 5 minutes into the second half the Trojans found goal number two. At the 34:54 mark Sam Burns was taken down in the box and then Grant Williams sunk the PK goal into the side net. The Trojans went up 2-1. At the 17:45 mark Dillion Bergman made a through pass to Sam Burns who beat the keeper and hit the back netting. This made the score 3-1 in favor of the Trojans and would serve to be the final score. Trojan Keeper Zengerling had 6 saves on the night and the Trojans outshot the Panthers 13-8. “There will be games like this in the tournament where you won’t have your best stuff as a team, but good teams always find a way to win. I am proud of the boys as they showed some real maturity to come back from 1-0 and get the W. We will be glad to have these 2 days to recover and get ready for the Championship as it will prove to be a great game by both sides.”-Coach Black
