Boys Junior Varsity Soccer, Boys Varsity Soccer · EC TAKES ON COLERAIN; WINS 3-1

The EC Men’s Soccer team took on the visiting Colerain Cardinals this past Saturday. The game proved to be a battle. For much of the first half the Trojans had the ball on the Cardinals defensive third. With about 20 minutes to play in the match Adam Huntington served the ball across goal to Brady Covert who finished it into the back of the net and put the Trojans up 1-0. Then about 5 minutes later the Trojans went up 2-0 as Adam Huntington again assisted as he played the ball to Alex Barry who slid the ball home. Colerain then scored in the 31st minute as #7 hit a beauty of a shot from just outside the 18 into the upper 90. The first half would end with a 2-1 score in favor of the Trojans. The second half played a little more even as both teams were playing well. In the 24th minute though it was the Trojans who struck. As Trojans freshman Jared Tiemann played a ball to the top of the 18 to Grant Williams, who then finished the play by hitting side netting. The Trojans went up 3-1, which would prove to be the final score. The Trojans were a 12-5 shot favorite in the game. “The boys played with a lot of heart this week, with 3 games in one week and all against quality opponents, it takes a lot out of you. These three games have been all about team effort. All of our players have stepped up throughout this week at different times when the team needed them. Two of our three goals were by kids who came in off the bench, this speaks to our depth of talented kids, not just the kids who start the game but the ones who give us a much needed spark off the bench. As a coaching staff we couldn’t be prouder of all these kids.” –Coach Black
