The East Central Men’s Soccer team traveled to Connersville last night to take on the Spartans. The Trojans really pressed the action from the start and pressured the Spartans goal. At the 32:13 mark in the first half Mason Volker received the pass from Evan Spangler and Volker finished with a shot into the side netting to put the Trojans up 1-0. About 10 minutes later the same duo struck again, at the 21:10 mark Volker received a pass from Spangler and Volker put the Trojans up 2-0. In the second half a lot of the same happened as the Trojans kept the ball on the offensive third. At 35:42 in the second half a handball was called on the Spartans in the box which gave the Trojans a PK opportunity. Captain Mason Volker stepped up to take it and buried the opportunity to put the Trojans up 3-0. Then at 21:22 senior Seth Bittner received a pass from Nate Weiss and buried the opportunity for the Trojans fourth and final goal. The shot count was 43-1 in the Trojans favor and 23 on goal. ” I like the way we played for the most part. We have a lot of new kids in some new roles and there will obviously be growing pains that come along with that. I thought we could have finished the ball a little better but all things considered it went well. Credit the Connersville goalie with some good saves throughout the game. Their kids played very hard and made it difficult to break them down on occasion. ” – Coach Black
The JV game was also won by the Trojans 1-0. At the 32:12 mark in the 2nd half Adam Lyness received a pass from Nathan Barga and Adam ripped a shot into the netting.
