At first, I wasn’t sure this was going to go in our favor. We found ourselves in a hole 1-9 to start the match, but once again, these girls do not know when to quit. They found their way and chipped their way back until they eventually took the lead and the set. We controlled set two with stronger serving which led to a more controlled offense. In set three it was pretty much point for point for the first half of the set, and then we got stuck in a rotation we couldn’t fight our way out of fast enough. Set four was just a solid set by both teams.
It took the entire team. Someone stepped up every time we needed a big push. We had strong performances by so many of the girls. It truly was a big-time team effort last night and as a coach, I couldn’t be happier with that as we round out our season.
It was almost like a conference match. For two teams who have never played each other and new nothing about the other team, the atmosphere match a conference rivalry match. Both JV teams were competing with each other in the stands to be the loudest for their team and the parents/fans were equally as supportive. It was a fun match-up that has the potential to be a great long term addition to our schedule.
Varsity is now 17-7 on the season.
