The autumn air was crisp at Greensburg Elementary School as the East Central Trojans took to the course for the 2026 Greensburg Invitational. With the postseason rapidly approaching, the team produced a massive wave of Personal Records (PRs) and Season Bests (SBs). East Central claimed a strong 4th place team finish out of 13 competitive programs. Leading the charge for the Trojans was senior Abram Hiltz, who ran the 5K course to secure a 10th place individual finish with a time of 17:41.7. His front-running performance set a high-energy tone for the rest of the squad. Following behind Hiltz, Senior Anthony Toler clocked an impressive 18:25.0 to cross the line in 17th place. The youth and depth of the Trojan roster showed in the middle of the pack, led by a spectacular, race from freshman Cooper Middendorf. Middendorf ran with fierce determination, crossing the line in 18:33.3 to secure a vital 23rd-place finish and a brand-new Personal Record. And, not far behind, senior Spencer Lyon left everything on the course, fighting through the final mile to capture his own Season Best at 19:22.2. Sophomore Ostyn Gellert kept the momentum surging, recording a phenomenal Season Best time of 20:06.4. He was chased closely by a relentless pack of teammates who all demolished their previous lifetime marks to set Personal Records: ~Ethan Washum (FR) – Pushed through the final straightaway to lock in a PR of 20:13.8. ~Haydn Nix (JR) – Showed incredible late-race stamina, crossing the line just a second later with a lifetime-best 20:14.8. ~Alex Middendorf (SO) – Executed a beautiful race to secure his PR at 21:13.4. ~Isaac Shaver (FR) – Displayed massive grit, destroying his previous times to finish at 22:51.1. ~Victor Hernandez (SO) – Locked in a tremendous race, crossing the line at 23:57.1. By the time the final scores were tabulated, East Central’s 4th place finish proved that their tight pack running is ready for the conference and sectional challenges ahead. With multiple athletes peaking simultaneously and PRs, the Trojans left Greensburg with a definitive statement: they are ready to run when it matters most.
